Workshop Overview
The “Giving a Second Chance” workshop introduces participants to the world of secondhand clothing and the powerful impact of reusing and recycling textiles. The session begins with an introduction to Textile House and Garson & Shaw, highlighting the environmental and social benefits of the circular clothing industry. Participants will learn about the scale of fast fashion’s impact, the journey of used garments, and how millions of textiles are given a second life instead of ending up in landfills.
The main activities include watching short videos, engaging in discussion, and a hands-on upcycling project where participants create items such as pet toys from used T-shirts. Facilitators guide reflections on the broader environmental, social, and economic implications of secondhand clothing and circular fashion. The workshop concludes with a collective reflection, emphasizing how reuse, upcycling, and recycling contribute to sustainability, social well-being, and responsible consumer choices.
