Workshop Overview

How Our Childhood and Youth Are Being Stolen by Silicon Valley” is a thought-provoking workshop that explores how smartphones, social media, and Big Tech have reshaped childhood and adolescence in just over a decade. Participants will learn how digital platforms are intentionally designed to capture attention, create dependency, and influence the developing brains of children and teenagers. The session highlights the alarming rise in anxiety, loneliness, depression, and self-harm—and reveals why these trends are not accidental but deeply connected to the architecture of the digital world.

Through a combination of presentation, reflection, and group discussion, participants will unpack how the invisible power of Silicon Valley impacts family life, mental health, and social behavior. The workshop also aims to move from awareness to action by exploring practical solutions and collective steps that can help protect young people from digital harm. By the end, participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the problem—and concrete ideas on what can be done.
